NewsCMU Graphics in the New ScientistA recent article in the international science magazine New Scientist features work by Assistant Research Professor Yaser Sheikh on an augmented reality system that can be used to gain visibility while driving a car. The article describes the prototype and gives a brief introduction to the system. To read the paper and check out more videos you can visit the project page. CMU-GATECH Graphics RetreatOn October 16 - 18 the CMU Graphics Lab hosted the (almost) annual CMU/GATECH graphics retreat. Twenty talks and 18 posters that elaborated on existing projects or proposed new ones were presented. We spent Friday evening investigating the visual appeal of "Where the Wild Things Are" and Saturday evening doing research in traditional printing techniques at the Artist Image Resource. Thanks everyone for participating and making this happen! More SIGGRAPH Asia newsFollowing up on a recent news post, check out another paper authored by members of the lab which will be presented during Siggraph Asia 2009:
Congrats and keep up the great work! Former lab member works on The Beatles: Rock BandMichael Mandel graduated in 2003 from CMU and, as part of the Graphics Lab, he worked on interactive CG and animation.
